Summer Schemes 2021

SUMMER SCHEME 2021

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS

We look forward to welcoming your child to our Summer Schemes. We have listed below some information to help you and your child be prepared before attending.

  • Children must be signed IN and signed OUT each day at the relevant centre:

Lagan Valley LeisurePlex - Meet and pickup each day will be at the right side of the building (as you face Leisureplex). Staff will be on hand to direct you on the first day.

Glenmore Activity Centre - Main Hall

Kilmakee Activity Centre - Minor Hall

  • To help prevent clothing and lunches being lost, please label items with the child’s name.  Staff cannot be held responsible for lost personal items.
  • Children attending Lagan Valley LeisurePlex schemes can bring a packed lunch or parents can order and pay for food at Sinnamon Café. Please refrain from sending items that contain nuts in order to reduce the risk to those with nut allergies.
  • Children attending Lagan Valley LeisurePlex schemes MUST bring swimming gear every day.
  • Children with COVID symptoms must not attend Summer Scheme.
  • Children will have their temperature taken each morning on arrival to the centre.  Parents/guardians should remain with children until this is complete.  Where a child is found to have a high temperature, both the child and parent/guardian accompanying the child will be taken to a room where they will remain for 10 minutes.  Their temperature will be taken again and should it still be high, the adult will be asked to take the child home.
  • Similar to what has been offered in schools recently, the Department of Health are recommending that we offer voluntary asymptomatic testing to children on our Summer Schemes who are aged 11 and over.  This test is voluntary. If you wish for your child (aged 11 years or over) to avail of the free testing, we can supply the kit for your child to take and carry out the test at home.
  • Staff in our centres will wear a mask as they move throughout the centre.
  • We recommend children to wear sun cream each day as some activities will be outdoors.  On an extremely warm day we would also recommend a sun hat and plenty of drinking water.
  • Children will be participating in many different sports and activities and we would recommend comfortable clothes and shoes.
  • Children will not be permitted to use mobile phones during the Scheme or take photographs. Centres cannot take responsibility for the security of phones or other personal items.
  • Children will be asked to sanitise and wash their hands frequently throughout the day.  This is both for their safety and those around them.
  • Our centres may operate a one way system to ensure a safe free flow of ‘traffic’.  We will discuss this with your child(ren) on the first morning and we would encourage all children to adhere to this.
  • Our centres are “Nut Free Zones”.  Please refrain from including nut based products in your child/children’s lunch or break. This is to ensure a safe environment for children who attend the scheme with nut allergies.
  • Staff are NOT available to supervise children prior to the start time or after the finishing time of the scheme.

Rules of behaviour at the scheme must be adhered to, these include: -

  • No fighting, stealing, bullying or bad language.
  • No defacing Council property, no malicious damage to property or tampering with firefighting equipment etc.
  • Summer scheme leaders must be treated with respect and instructions that are issued by them are to be followed at all times.
  • Lisburn & Castlereagh Sports Services operates a ZERO TOLERENCE policy towards verbal and physical abuse of staff and users.
  • Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has a Safeguarding Policy (child and vulnerable adult protection) in place, which is strictly adhered to in our centres.
  • To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all children attending the scheme, the Management of the Centre reserves the right to exclude a child whose behaviour is disrupting and marring the enjoyment and safety of other children.
  • Normal practice is that there will be no refunds for cancellations or unattended sessions. At the discretion of the Manager, applications for refunds will be considered if a child has a medical condition which prevents him/her from participating in the activity this must be evidenced by a doctor’s letter and an administration charge may be applicable.
  • All parents are required to sign their children in AND out of their appropriate clubs and remain with their child(ren) until the temperatures checks are complete.
