National Pool Lifeguard Qualification


Interested in getting a job as a Professional Pool Lifeguard? 
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is a professional lifeguard qualification recognised all over the world and is the perfect qualification for anyone wanting to become a lifeguard here at home or abroad in the likes of Camp America. 

Lagan Valley Leisureplex runs multiple NPLQ courses throughout the year over a six day course so why not take the first step and enroll in a Lifeguard Training Course at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, Lisburn?

The RLSS UK NPLQ is the essential Professional Qualification for Lifeguards by Pool Operators in the UK and can also gain students extra points for University as a professional Qualification.


Dates: The next course is scheduled for Monday 25 October 2021 - Friday 29th October 2021 from 8.00am - 5.00pm with the assessment on Saturday 30th October. The course is £240 and can be booked and paid for by contacting the main reception 028 92672121.

Lifeguard Course Pre-Requisites  

Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16-years-old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

Paediatric First Aid


Register for Lagan Valley Leisure Plex's First Aid Courses and learn how to administer basic first aid to children and toddlers. 

The IQL Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills, equipping the first-aider to administer first aid to children and infants. This one-day course covers a range of CPR and first aid skills related to children, providing you with the skills to ensure a safe environment for children infants. Run by fully qualified trainers using the most up to date training resources and equipment, the qualification is Ofqual accredited and valid for three years.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid is six hours and can be delivered in one day or split into smaller sessions over a four week period from the start of the course and comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as a practical assessment on CPR and first aid. For this course, adults are welcome to bring children along to the 90 minute session to likewise introduce them to basic first aid and put them at ease if they ever require first aid in the future.

First Aid at Work


The IQL Level 3 First Aid at Work Qualification covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills, equipping the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illness.
