Council Launches Sports Funding Scheme

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has launched a funding package to provide much needed financial support to sports clubs across the council area. Up to £3,000 is available through the Sports Accelerator Fund to assist eligible clubs meet the costs associated with their ongoing development.

The fund will help cover costs towards sports related or specialised equipment, one off sports events or new programmes, club development officer posts or upskilling of coaches and volunteers through coach education and training.

The Sports Accelerator Fund is open to constituted sports clubs affiliated with both their National Governing Body and the local Sports Advisory Body, Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh. The grant is exclusively aimed at sports clubs based in the Lisburn & Castlereagh area.

Applications must be submitted by Friday 8th August 2025, and clubs are encouraged to read the guidance notes carefully before applying online at https://www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/w/-sports-club-accelerator-fund
