On behalf of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Alderman Paul Porter, Chairman of the Leisure and Community Development Committee, along with Mayor, Councillor Uel Mackin and special guests, Santa Claus and his holiday elf have launched this year’s Santa Dash, due to take place at Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Carryduff on Thursday 13th December 2018 at 6.30pm.

Organised by the Council’s Sports Services Unit, this year’s Santa Dash, like last year, will provide participants with an evening of festive fun across a choice of 1km, 3km or 5km routes.  Prior to the ‘dash’, there will also be a special Christmas themed warm-up Zumba class to get participants in the festive spirit as well as bouncy castles and refreshments to keep Santa’s littler helpers busy!

Entry cost for this year’s event is £8 per adult and £4 per child, which includes your very own Santa suit ensuring you are suitably dressed and full of Christmas cheer. A donation from each entry will be made to the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s charity, Cancer Fund for Children.

Alderman Paul Porter, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee said, “I am thrilled that Lough Moss Leisure Centre is once again the host venue for this festive family fun event. You don’t need to be an experienced runner to take part, so whether you run, jog or walk around one of the three routes, spread the word and let’s get as many Santa dressed runners, joggers or walkers as possible participating in this year’s event in support of the Mayor’s Charity.

Councillor Uel Mackin, Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council added, “I am delighted that proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to my Mayoral Charity, Cancer Fund for Children. I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our community and would encourage people of all ages, abilities and fitness to sign-up, take part and support such a worthy charity. So join in the fun and be a Claus for a good cause!”

Those looking to participate in this year’s event can register by visiting  Santa suits can be collected from Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Hillsborough Road, Carryduff from Monday 7th December at 6pm and registrations can also be made in person at the centre.
