Summer in the City Returns with Packed Line-Up for Kids

26 May 2026

Families across Lisburn & Castlereagh can look forward to another exciting summer as the popular Summer in the City programme returns with a wide range of activities, schemes and sports camps for children.

Designed for children aged 5–12 years, this year’s programme offers a fun-filled summer of sports, games, arts and crafts, bouncy castles and much more. Taking place at leisure and community centres across the council area, the summer schemes are the perfect opportunity for children to get active, make new friends and try something different this summer.

Children can also take part in a range of sports camps and courses, including golf, ice skating, swimming and multi-sports. Led by experienced coaches, the camps are designed to build confidence and develop new skills whilst staying active.

In addition to the summer schemes and sports camps, the programme includes a Disability Kids Club and access to the Disability Hub Inclusive Cycles at Lough Moss Leisure Centre, ensuring children of all abilities have opportunities to get involved.

Launching this year’s programme, Councillor Tim Mitchell, Chair of the Communities and Wellbeing Committee said, “Summer in the City continues to be one of the highlights of the summer calendar for many local families. The programme gives children the chance to stay active, make new friends and enjoy a wide variety of activities in a safe and fun environment.

Programmes like this play an important role in supporting children’s physical and mental wellbeing during the school holidays. We look forward to welcoming children from across the council area for another fantastic summer.”

Bookings for the Summer in the City programme will open on a staggered basis from 1st–3rd June. For full details on the programme and to enrol online, please click here.
